Thio Tse Chong is a highly experienced financial markets professional with more than three decades of leadership across treasury, markets, and investment banking. His career blends deep expertise in multi-asset products, market risk, balance-sheet management, and client-centric financial innovation—forming a strong foundation for strategic portfolio management and macro-driven investment decision-making.

Thio spent over 20 years at DBS Bank, from August 2000 to April 2021, where he held several key senior positions, including Managing Director, Head of Sales, and Head of Product for Treasury & Markets. In these roles, Thio oversaw the full spectrum of treasury product development, multi-asset markets sales, and client advisory across rates, FX, credit, commodities, and structured solutions. He led a large team of more than 160 professionals operating across major financial centres, including Singapore, Hong Kong, India, China, London, and Tokyo.

During his tenure, Thio played a pivotal role in expanding DBS’s financial markets presence from a primarily domestic franchise to a competitive international participant. He developed new business verticals, strengthened cross-border client coverage, and implemented strategies that enhanced revenue resilience across market cycles. His responsibilities included shaping product roadmaps, driving institutional sales growth, overseeing risk frameworks, and aligning market-facing strategies with macroeconomic and regulatory developments. These responsibilities refined his capabilities in market analysis, asset allocation, and risk-adjusted portfolio optimisation—the core pillars of effective fund management.

Before joining DBS, Thio built a strong foundation in financial markets through positions at Chase Manhattan Bank, Rabo Bank, and Bankers Trust & Co. Beginning his career in 1990, he gained hands-on experience in global markets trading, corporate risk solutions, and institutional relationship management. His exposure across Western and Asian financial institutions gave him a broad understanding of liquidity management, funding structures, and cross-market investment opportunities.
